In January of this year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ranked suicide as the 14th leading cause of  death in New Jersey and the third leading cause of death for those ages 10 to 24. While New Jersey continues to  have a lower rate of suicide compared to the national average, suicide remains a priority area to combat within  the State. Last year we saw how devasting a teen suicide could be. That is why it is important to learn as much as possible about the rise in teen deaths by suicide.   The emotional well-being of students and staff is paramount to ensuring a successful academic year. In Memory of Alex Trebek: Making Jeopardy Review Boards in Class

Who wasn't a bit upset this past weekend when news broke that Jeopardy host Alex Trebek passed away?   That's why I wanted to share these Jeopardy-style games that you can use in your physical or online classroom. They come from Ricard Byrne, the technology expert whose blog,  FreeTech4Teachers.com , is a must! Flippity Quiz Show Flippity.net  is my go-to resource whenever I want to make something interesting with Google Sheets. Ramadan Resources

Thank you Central Office for the following resources! This month Muslims from around the world are celebrating Ramadan.  Ramadan is the month that marks when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad. During this month, Muslims take part in many activities such as nightly prayer, charity, community and fasting.  Observance of Ramadan is one of the 5 Pillars of Islam.  We wish all of our students, staff and community a Ramadan Mubarak.  On April 21, Muslims will celebrate Eid al Fitr.  Eid al Fitr translates into “ the festival of the breaking of the fast” (when the new moon is sighted) where families and friends celebrate the end of Ramadan.   During the time of Ramadan Muslim students and staff may be fasting.  Younger students may be fasting for part or all of the day due to their age.   The fasting time begins at dawn and ends at sunset.  Please be sure to offer accommodations for students during this time. ...
